CLAYPOT RESTAURANT @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang (Non Halal)

If you look for claypot style restaurant in Penang, 1 of the restaurant that can be recommend is CLAYPOT RESTAURANT, Tanjung Bungah. This restaurant located at 48, Jalan Sungai Kelian, Tanjung Bungah, 11200 Penang. For claypot lover like me also will not miss the opportunity to have a try on it.

Most of the chinese dishes serve in claypot style. No matter what variety of food you choosing with claypot style cook taste enough & better.

Lets share how clay pots work?
Clay is a porous material. When the pot is saturated with water (you should always soak the pot for 15 minutes or so before use) and heated in the oven, steam will evaporate slowly from the pores of the clay. During cooking, the food inside your clay pot will release and cook in its own juices. These juices are sealed inside the pot until it is completely dry, and at this point the food is cooked!

CLAYPOT RESTAURANT seperate into indoor & outdoor dining area. There are setting of tables and chairs outdoor, but probably in the afternoon the weather is hot, not much people sitting outside, except smoker. , With yellow down light & aircond indoor, the ambient make you more comfortable.

Most of the claypot dishes in CLAYPOT RESTAURANT must be go with 1 rice at least, for people like me will go for 2 rice. If you get your lovely dishes, you might not able to stop continue on it.

Sunset Bistro Reborn "BORA BORA"

Most of our Penangders & foreigners know the name of Sunset Bistro which allocate at Batu Feringghi area. It burnt down due to the so-called arson attack in late January 2011, a replacement place that name as "BORA BORA" Sunset Bistro reborn successful & newly opened towards the end of May. If you are living or holidaying in Penang and love to watch sunset, no other place but "BORA BORA".A very good sunset photo capture & nightlife chill out enjoyable place.  "BORA BORA" not only served beer, drinks & beverage but also a variety choice of chinese & western cuisine too. It’s located just a shop lot away just before the Tarbush Lebanese Restaurant, hidden right behind some night market stalls along the famous Batu Ferringhi stretch. At last minute of call receive, invited by Criz that with rush, telling that Batu Feringghi have a new secret place to explore, I have no 2nd words to say, just join! Very happy that during the day weather look hot & cloudy, it allowed me to capture a few nice shots of sunset during this review.

The envirorment at "BORA BORA" make people feel comfortable & relax, the song they play, match with the theme & timing. The staff there serve nice & friendly, exspecially  the owner Ms. Melynda Soon. Below show some example photo's of the enviroment.

Major of today is not only introduce the enviroment & etc but food. 3 of dishes that choose of the day are Special Fried Rice, Pan Grill Lemon Citrus Butter Beef & The Bora Bora Special Pizza.

Let start with the Special Fried Rice, it come witht the combination of fried rice, fried egg, some vege & 2 skews of malay satay. The fried rice come with standard prawn & chicken meat, it taste nice but a bit oily. Satay make people would continue for more bite on it.

Special Fried Rice (RM8.90nett)

The newly introduced Pan Grill Lemon Citrus Butter Beef, come with side dishes such as sautéed potatoes and fresh greensthe dish been promotion during fathers day, & it get a average feedback from customer. The pan grilled beef, combined with the citrus butter with a touch of black pepper and herbs blended in well with the freshly handpicked greens. From our opinion is the potatoes if can get soften a bit, then would be just nice.

Pan Grill Lemon Citrus Butter Beef (RM31.90nett)

Pizza would be our last main dish, the Bora Bora Special Pizza, which has turkey ham, pineapple, button mushrooms and olives. The taste missing some tomato paste, the base was rather compact and did not provide that mild crunchiness. Overall still acceptable.

Bora Bora Special Pizza (6” – RM12.90nett or 8” – RM13.90nett)

Desert is the best part, the Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream. It was simply awesome after a heavy meal. The slightly oven burned taste for the almond bits and raisin filled brownie went well with the scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Well, we just got ourselves Iced Peach Tea  and Mango Lassi.
